Buyer registrations boom

Buyer registrations boom as agent reports surge in demand for family homes

The Stamp Duty holiday is having the biggest benefit for those in the £600,000 to £700,000 price bracket, an agent claims.

London agency brand Kingleigh Folkard & Hayward (KFH) said it has seen unprecedented demand since the Stamp Duty threshold was raised to £500,000 in July.

It said there has been a 60% annual increase in buyer registrations for properties worth £600,000 to £700,000 and a 53% rise for those worth £800,000 to £1m.

The agent said the most sought after properties are those with two-bedroom flats with garden space and family homes.

Robert McLaughlin, sales director at KFH, said: “The increased appetite from buyers and sellers has translated across all price brackets, with more rooms and outside space a top priority from buyers.

“This may well represent a surge in buyers looking for additional space, whether that’s a work from home area or a garden.

“It will be interesting to see if the demand continues to buck seasonal trends between now and when the Stamp Duty holiday ends.”

KFH said the number of valuation requests and instructions taken on across its branches jas shot up by 80% and 86% respectively compared with last year.
